Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification. Student at the pre-enrolment stage must undertake LLN test and Pre-training Review to identify student’s strengths and weaknesses with the objective to tailor the learning and assessment strategy to suit the student’s needs which will increase student engagement and ownership.

Course Outcomes

This course is suitable for a person who wants to learn the skills of a nail technician and provide a range of nail technology services including manicure and pedicures, applying acrylic or gel nail enhancement and applying art.  This includes the knowledge of nail science, communication and retail skills.

Training Arrangements

The program is delivered at LAF’s College of Vocational Education training centre and includes practical workshops in a fully operational beauty salon.  The training consists of a combination of trainer-led theory classes and practical activities.  Students will also have the opportunity to provide beauty services to clients.

Classes will be for 2 and half days and 3 hours self-study each week.

Assessment will include the following;
•    Observation of practical activities
•    Portfolio of evidence
•    Written and oral questions

Education Pathways

Students who complete this course may wish to further their study in  SHB40115 Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy or SHB50115 Diploma of Beauty Therapy


Funded Student:

Tuition fees:  $120.00
Materials fees:  $500.00 for a Nail kit or a student can purchase their own equipment.  LAF College of Vocational Education will provide students with a list of equipment to purchase.
No administration fee.

How to Enrol/Apply

This course is available by direct entry by speaking to the Campus Manager at the College’s head office.

Student Orientation

Students will participate in an orientation program which will go for 1 day starting at 9 am and finish at 4 pm.  This orientation program is compulsory for all students.
