Course Structure and Units The SHB50115 Diploma of Beauty Therapy requires the completion of 25 units which are made up of 13 core units and 12 elective units.

Entry requirements The level entry requirement for this qualification is 5.5 English bands or has an adequate LLN skill level.
Re Training review All students must participate in a pre-training review. This process will determine the appropriacy of the chosen training option, and identify any special needs. Should the College require further determination of language, literacy and numeracy skills, the student may need to complete a foundation skills test, so that additional support can be offered.
Course Outcomes This course is suitable for a person who wants to learn the skills of a beautician and provide a range of specialist beauty services including skin biology, skin care products, facials, body treatments, massage, make-up, waxing, manicure and pedicures, applying acrylic or gel nail enhancement and applying art.  This includes the knowledge of beauty, advanced facial techniques, communication and retail skills.

Training Arrangements
The program is delivered at LAF’s College of Vocational Education training centre and includes practical workshops in a fully operational beauty salon.  The training consists of a combination of trainer-led theory classes and practical activities.  Students will also have the opportunity to provide beauty services to clients.
Classes Classes will start at 9am and complete at 4pm.  With 1 hour for lunch.

Classes will be for 2.5 days.

Additional Support LAF has policies that include reasonable adjustment and access and equity principles.

Reasonable adjustment at LAF is designed to ensure that a student is not presented with unnecessary barriers to demonstrating achievement in the program of study.  Reasonable adjustments may include the use of additional educational support, and alternative methods of assessment such as oral assessment.

LAF also offers its students the opportunity to participate in small group bi-lingual (Vietnamese) classes in various aspects of specialist beauty services.

Students with disabilities are encouraged to enroll in this course and will be appropriately supported.

Assessment Arrangements Assessment will include the following;

·         Observation of practical activities

·         Written and oral questions

·         Portfolio of evidence

Skills Recognition Students may apply for recognition of existing qualifications or skills, knowledge and experience (credit transfer or recognition of prior learning) as per LAF College skills recognition policies and procedures.

Education Pathways Students who complete this course may wish to further their study in can enrol in to the Bachelor of Health science or Vocational Graduate Certificate in Intense Pulsed Light and Laser Hair Reduction.
Costs Domestic students:

Tuition fees:  $2,800.00 (Please see “Course fee” for detail)

Equipment fees:  $850.00 for a beautician kit or a student can purchase their own equipment.  LAF College of Vocational Education will provide students with a list of equipment to purchase.

No administration fee.

 

How to Enrol/ Apply This course is available by direct entry by speaking to the Campus Manager at the College’s Head Office.
Student Orientation Students will participate in an orientation program which will go for 1 day starting at 9am and finishing at 4pm.  This orientation program is compulsory for all students.
